I had pain in my left hip and lower back for about two years, and pain in my right jaw for a couple of months. I had difficulty eating due to my jaw pain and a lot of pain in my hip when sitting. I did have one visit with another chiropractor; his explanation of my problem was not clear and the visit was not helpful. I had never been to a chiropractor before.
I asked my friend about his chiropractic experience and he referred me to Khalsa Chiropractic. Dr. Mha Atma was very thorough and methodical in his practice. He recommended daily exercises and a plan for my chiropractic treatments. I began with once weekly appointments to ease me into chiropractic care and then came twice weekly for a month, then back to once weekly and eventually every two weeks. The treatments have helped to release the pain and tight muscles and now I feel much better. My posture is better and it doesn’t hurt to stand up straight.
My sister was experiencing neck and jaw and lower back pain, and chiropractic treatment has helped her a lot also. I definitely recommend chiropractic as a great way to care for your body after all the wear and tear that occurs over the years. I will continue to take part in chiropractic as preventative care.
All of the staff at Khalsa Chiropractic was very nice and helpful and provides answers to all my questions. Also the flow of patients receiving care is very efficient. My experience has been great.

I had pain in my back radiating down my right thigh to my calf for over six months. It was painful to walk or to sit and to lie on my side. The pain was 10/10. I didn’t want to take drugs.
My parents went to chiropractors many years ago but I had never been to one in a very long time. My friend recommended me to Dr. Mha Atma, and I felt confident he could help me.
Khalsa Chiropractic felt like a happy, very calm and relaxed place. Dr. Mha Atma recommended a series of chiropractic treatments along with daily stretches and postural advice. I felt much better within the first few visits and now I feel that I am healed. It’s a miracle! Before I could barely walk and now I walk four miles at the beach every week with no pain.
My brother and sister-in-law have been getting chiropractic care for pinched nerves and it keeps them able to walk. I must have told at least 20 people about the benefits of chiropractic. It definitely keeps people from having to take drugs. And for me it’s a lifelong commitment to continue with periodic adjustments to stay healthy!

“I was in a car accident and my back was very tight.”

I was in a car accident and my back was very tight. I couldn’t sit more than an hour without tightness and pain building up. I felt it in the middle of my back and down the right side to my hip. It started the day of the accident and kept getting worse for three weeks until I finally decided to seek treatment. I had gone to urgent care after the accident and they gave me medication and took x-rays. The medication gave me temporary relief but also made me a bit loopy. So I tried to deal with the pain with just will power, which didn’t really work. I was barely able to sit and when I got home from work I would just lie on my back. My ability to walk was drastically reduced and doing normal activities was very painful.
I was referred to Khalsa Chiropractic by my brother who in the past had a motorcycle accident and received treatment from Dr. Mha Atma. I didn’t have much experience with chiropractic but felt confident it would help.
I found the office to be clean and neatly organized and very calm. I saw a video about my spine, and after my examination Dr. Mha Atma recommended a series of chiropractic treatments, some massage, and that I avoid inflammatory foods, take vitamin D, and do exercises to strengthen my back which he showed me.
I have experienced a reversal and recovery from my previously injured condition. I am feeling much better and feeling capable of moving forward, and I have some tools to combat future strains from my injury.
I would recommend chiropractic to people who have been injured but also to people who do a lot of running or impact work that affects their spine. I would tell them to continue the regimen and not short change it by stopping too soon just because they feel better this week. Your spine is like any part of the body—it takes time to heal and just because it isn’t screaming out in agony doesn’t mean it’s completely healed. Keep at the treatments.

“I first sought out Khalsa Chiropractic because I was experiencing constant pain in my lower back.”

I first sought out Khalsa Chiropractic because I was experiencing constant pain in my lower back. What started as an occasional “soreness” in my lumbar region had grown into a constant source of pain. Whether I was working out, driving, or sitting at my desk, my lower back would throb as a constant reminder of my pain and discomfort. The only relief came from pain relievers and Icy Hot back patches. I was reluctant to continue taking ibuprofen, as I didn’t see daily use of pain killers as a long-term solution for what I was experiencing.
After a while, the pain became so constant and limiting that I decided to seek out another solution. Some internet research led me toward chiropractic. I did not know much about chiropractic care and I’d never tried it, but I had people in my life who swore by it, so I decided to give it a shot. Khalsa Chiropractic was within walking distance from my house and came highly regarded by patients, so I decided to give it a try. I was very skeptical about whether or not chiropractic would help me. I viewed it as a sort of short-term, alternative medicine and felt that I wasn’t injured or “broken” enough to need chiropractic help.
My first impression was fantastic. The office was inviting and everyone was kind and approachable. Dr. Mha Atma was patient and thorough - he not only addressed my concerns, but helped me to understand chiropractic care in general and how it could be used as both a short-term fix and a long-term care plan that was integrated into my life. He recommended that I come in for once/twice weekly visits until I was unstuck and the pain started to subside. Then I could come every 3-4 weeks after that to maintain my proper health. He also recommended stretches to help with my lower back and the surrounding discomfort to use between treatments.
After my first treatment, I felt a bit more limber and relieved, but didn’t notice any huge difference. Same with my second and third treatments one week later. But then something changed. By the second and third week, I started noticing that my back was bothering me less and less. A few treatments later, my pain was gone altogether. I had gone from being in a state of constant pain, to never thinking about my lower back again.
I cannot recommend chiropractic care highly enough and encourage those in my life suffering with discomfort to seek out chiropractic care. I used to think chiropractic care was only for those who were seriously injured, as short-term solutions to their needs, but now I realize that it is part of a healthy and comfortable lifestyle. I have told everyone who will listen about chiropractic. I tell anyone who struggles with back pain or other similar ailments and is seeking relief to give chiropractic care a chance, because it just might surprise them.
Now that I have enjoyed the benefits of chiropractic care, I realize how wrong I was about it. It’s not a short-term fix or an “alternative” to medicine; it is an essential component of a healthy lifestyle and its benefits are profound. It is painless, non-invasive and prevents me from having to use harsh medications or expensive solutions to manage my pain. I long believed that constant pain and discomfort was “inevitable” or “part of life” and now, through chiropractic, I realize that it does not have to be that way. I am finally comfortable again in my own body. Thank you all for having such a wonderful and positive presence in my life. I am tremendously grateful for this office!

“I had pain in my neck and upper back and shoulders.”

I had pain in my neck and upper back and shoulders. The pain was 8 to 9 on a scale of 1 to 10 and it was non-stop. I could not get any rest at all and could not sleep well. Because of my other health issues I could not take any pain medication other than aspirin, which didn’t give me much relief.
I decided to come to Khalsa Chiropractic because it was my last hope. I had never been to a chiropractor before but I was hoping for the best.
On my first visit here I really felt that the treatment was going to help. The doctor recommended that I come twice weekly for a while. I did for a few weeks and was slowly improving but when the pandemic started I could not come for two months and my neck pain got worse again. Then I returned and came once weekly for the next two months. During that time I felt a big improvement and was able to lie down and to sleep and to move around with much less pain. After a couple more months my pain was gone and my mobility was better!
I would definitely recommend chiropractic care to anyone who is having pain or wants to improve their health and I have told several people about it. I wish I had begun chiropractic care much earlier!

I had some relief from acupuncture and cupping and from massage, but the relief was temporary. I took Advil occasionally and sometimes arnica. I’d never been to a chiropractor before but the pain was too much and I knew it required some type of regular treatment.
The Khalsa Chiropractic office felt very “Berkeley” (my home town)—comfortable, compassionate and kind. Dr. Mha Atma recommended regular treatment (starting twice weekly) along with exercises and vitamin D.
Within a week I began to feel improvement, and now after a little more than two months my back and neck never felt better!I absolutely recommend chiropractic care to others who are looking to feel better. It worked for me! I love it and look forward to my treatments. Keep up the good

Emily Jones
“I had chronic pain in my lower back and my sciatic nerve.”

I had chronic pain in my lower back and my sciatic nerve. The pain radiated from the lower back down the left side of my left thigh, knee and calf. It was constant, day and night, and 8 out of 10 in severity. Physical therapy did not help, but I did get some relief seeing a chiropractor who was my cousin over the years between 2010 and 2019 but he retired in early 2019.
In July/August 2019 I went to the emergency room three times with severe left leg pain, and then in August I was hospitalized for six days with severe sciatic nerve pain. I was given various medications, and had to get morphine shots several times. I also had two epidural injections. I wanted to return to chiropractic therapy, and I was recommended to Dr. Mha Atma by two friends.
I really did not know when I first started chiropractic care if it would help me. I was willing to try anything for pain relief. My cousin inspired me because I had no idea what a chiropractic doctor could do for me. I always thought that chiropractic was just for car accidents but I learned that chiropractors are doctors for the nervous system including the sciatic nerve. I became pain free in 2011 and continued monthly adjustments because I knew it was very important for my condition—until my cousin retired and I began to have severe problems again.
Dr. Mha Atma recommended a treatment plan similar to previous treatment, twice weekly at first. Over six months my pain subsided 95% with keeping my scheduled appointments. It’s been an incredible transformation in my life. My condition has greatly improved and chiropractic will always be a part of my life.
I strongly recommend chiropractic to others because it’s the best treatment and better than taking pain medications and injections. The chiropractic treatments are “natural.” Medicines are temporary. I tell everyone about my healing from chiropractic treatment. It has improved my performance through a natural and drug-free approach. Hands on helps!

I was having an unusual sharp pain in my right lower back that occurred constantly regardless of whether I moved or not. It had been happening for 2 or 3 months and was 7 or 8 on a scale of 10. It was challenging because I spend 8 hours per day sitting and then am very active with rock climbing, running and yoga. I took typical painkillers like Advil and Tylenol with very temporary relief.
I thought gentle yoga and light forms of exercise would help but nothing was quite working. With encouragement from a coworker and a bit more research I decided to try chiropractic, although I’d never been to a chiropractor before and was not sure it would help.
When I arrived at Khalsa Chiropractic I found the office comforting and not at all intimidating. Dr. Mha Atma was also comforting and talking with him melted away any doubts and fears with his thorough explanation of my condition. He recommended chiropractic treatment along with stretches and exercises that I have included in my almost daily routine.
The duration of each chiropractic visit is quick but never rushed. The relief was immediate—the stiffness and pain in my back and also neck was reduced. The exercises, as long as I am diligent, have helped speed up the recovery and continue to help in maintaining a healthy back.
I have recommended chiropractic to several other people so far. I am grateful for the attentive care at Khalsa Chiropractic, and I look forward to my visits. Because of the range of my activities, I find the visits (now once every 2 to 3 weeks) continue to be beneficial.

I have had intense neck pain and back pain, as well as a general feeling of sluggishness, for at least a decade. The pain was extreme and ongoing. A doctor I saw told me that I was in “pain management” and would need hardcore pain drugs to manage the pain. I did sometimes take ibuprofen and I hated it.
I found Dr. Mha Atma by doing a web search and reading all the amazing reviews he had. I discovered that not all chiropractors are equal, and I’ve been to several. Dr. Mha Atma is the best one I’ve seen.
I found him to be professional, kind, and with a healing touch. Besides twice weekly chiropractic adjustments he recommended stretching, spinal exercises, and an anti-inflammation diet. I experienced relief of pain and increased mobility within two weeks.
Chiropractic has helped other members of my family with neck and back issues and they have experienced pain relief and increased general well-being. I continue to recommend it to others because it really helps. I feel very good about my treatment here and am grateful that it has helped so much!

I had extreme hip pain preventing me from normal activities, and also had nervous system issues. All of this for many months—it seemed a long time! It was getting worse and worse and I was getting concerned about my mobility. Medications and pain relievers did not help. I was taking vitamins and herbal supplements to try to make things better.
Dr. Mha Atma was highly recommended and I heard wonderful things about him. I had tried many things and wanted help and relief for my issues. I was desperate! I had only been to a chiropractor a very long time ago. I had no expectations about Dr. Mha Atma’s treatment but I hoped it would help me.
When I first arrived I felt that the office and Dr. Mha Atma had great energy–and the staff was great. He is very compassionate, calm, very patient, and could tell exactly where I hurt and what the issues were. He recommended regular chiropractic treatment along with home exercises and supplement recommendations. I felt relief from the very beginning of treatment with Dr. Mha Atma. Miraculous to me! It was a great relief. I feel very grateful and wish I had found him sooner and so glad I did find him. It changed my life for the better.
I highly recommend Dr. Mha Atma. I have told anyone who would listen about my experience here. Chiropractic care as he provides it is the way to go. It works! This office is the best. I look forward to my visits and appreciate the whole staff as well. Dr. Mha Atma’s treatment is my antidote to pain and worry!

I was in a car accident. I had a lot of pain in my neck and lower back. I had headaches too. The pain was a “10” on a scale of 1 to 10. Constant pain. My son and nephew were in the car. They were hurting too. Our attorney referred us to Khalsa Chiropractic.
The doctor and staff at Khalsa Chiropractic were great. Dr. Mha Atma had me come in for chiropractic treatment three times a week at first and eventually less often. He also referred me to their wonderful massage therapist Mimi. And he gave me exercises to do for my back and neck.
The treatment lasted four months and it was excellent. Dr. Mha Atma is the best. It took a while, but in the end I feel great and the pain is gone. I highly recommend chiropractic care to anyone who needs help. I think it’s fantastic. And my son and nephew are doing great also.
This office is the best. I love the staff. I will be returning soon for maintenance care. Thank you for everything!

This is a truly wonderful place. I feel blessed for knowing Dr Mha Atma and everyone in his office. His employees are super nice, percipient and kind. I never feel rushed.
Dr Mha Atma is such a great chiropractor who knows how to take care of his patients. He is very knowledgeable and explains everything so well. His approach is natural and doesn’t use X-ray which I really appreciate.
Every time when I walk out of his office I feel extremely satisfied. He managed to alleviate my pain after my car accident in a relatively short time and I am very grateful for that.
I definitely recommend Khalsa Chiropractic to anyone who wants an honest and unpretentious doctor who can provide great results for extremely reasonable prices.
